24 year old Joseph William Herbert of Stevensville, MD entered a guilty plea to conspiracy to commit robbery in the Queen Anne’s County Circuit Court on August 4, 2015.

Herbert was charged in connection with a robbery that occurred at a business in Stevensville on January 25, 2014.  Herbert, along with three other individuals, showed up at the business in the late evening hours armed with what appeared to be black handguns.  After knocking on a rear door, which was opened by an employee who thought a co-worker was out back, the men burst into the business yelling and demanding access to the business’s safe and money. One of the employees was subsequently struck in the head by one of the suspects with either a closed fist or the butt of a handgun.  Another employee fought back against the assailants and the suspects fled the business without any money.  All of the employees working at the business recognized two of the suspects based on the clothing they were wearing and their voices.  One of these individuals was a current employee of the business and the other was Joseph Herbert, who was a former employee.

This case was prosecuted by Christine Dulla Rickard, Deputy State’s Attorney.  Herbert is scheduled to be sentenced in the Queen Anne’s County Circuit Court on October 6, 2015.
